Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team, along with captain Shubman Gill and the entire squad, extended their heartfelt wishes to the women's team as they prepare for the Women's World Cup final against South Africa on Sunday at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Indian women's team aims to replicate the historic victory of the 2011 Men's World Cup, where MS Dhoni's team triumphed over Sri Lanka to claim the title after a 28-year wait. Despite their efforts, the women's team has yet to secure the championship, having finished as runners-up in 2005 and 2017. They will face a formidable South African side, which reached the final after a convincing 125-run win against England.
Gambhir and Gill's Encouraging Messages
Gambhir, who played a crucial role in India's 2011 victory with a score of 97, expressed his hopes for the women's team to break their title drought. In a video shared by a sports network, he stated, "On behalf of the entire support staff and the Indian team, I want to wish the women's team all the very best. Bring the cup home. All the very best."
Abhishek Sharma, recognized as the world's top T20I batter, joined Gill and Harshit Rana in sending their best wishes, saying, "All the very best from the whole team." Gill added a simple yet powerful message, wishing the women's team success in the finals, while Harshit echoed the sentiment, urging them to "bring the cup home."
Bowling Unit's Support
Jasprit Bumrah, leading India's bowling attack, also conveyed his encouragement, stating, "Give your best and everything else will take care of itself. I just want to wish all the best to everyone from here, and we'll be cheering for you guys."
The spin trio of Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy expressed their confidence in the women's team's abilities. Axar advised them to stay true to themselves, saying, "I think be yourself and continue what you've been doing. And wish you all the best." Kuldeep added, "Best wishes to the whole squad. Enjoy the game," while Varun confidently stated, "I'm very sure that you guys will go on and get us the World Cup and Chak De India."
Teammates' Encouragement
Jitesh Sharma sent a personalized message to vice-captain Smriti Mandhana in Marathi, wishing her luck for a stellar performance in the finals. He said, "Smriti, special best of luck to you. I hope you get some amazing innings in the finals and finish the match. Same to the rest of the team."
Arshdeep Singh encouraged Jitesh to extend his wishes to the entire squad, leading Jitesh to say, "All the best to the rest of the women's team." Arshdeep, with his characteristic confidence, remarked, "The trophy is here only. You just have to pick it up. You don't have to bring the trophy home." Rinku Singh also motivated the team, saying, "God's plan. Keep faith in it and win it."
As fans rally behind captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her team, India aims to make history in the Women's World Cup final on Sunday.
